More than just colour
Make it Better with Prominent Paints is presented by handyman Sam Marshall, with the expert guidance and support from the Prominent Paints team.
Sam with the Prominent Paints team visits homes around South Africa, hearing from various home owners about their paint related problems that seem impossible to solve. Sam provides a diagnosis to the problem for the homeowner, and at the same time explains and demonstrates the steps to solving the paint problem. With each show there is a recap of what was done, including the tools and products that are needed to perform the required job.
Season 1 started on the 14th of February 2012 and comprised of 13 episodes. It was aired after Disaster DIY on The Home Channel every Tuesday at 7:30pm.

We are at the home of Gerhardt Oosthuizen who's recently finished a whole lot of home renovations, but is less than happy with the paint on the exterior of his home.
We're in Vanderbijlpark, at the home of Lindiwe Meira. Lindiwe has a bit of a problem with the exterior walls of her house. Lack of waterproofing, plaster cracks and the use of a low-quality primer have all contributed to the current state of the walls..
We're in Brackendowns, Alberton, at the home of Tammy Schutte. Tammy has a problem with her kitchen cupboards - there are loads of chips, and in many areas the paint has started to scratch off the cupboards.
We're in Randgate, Randfontein, at the home of Paul and Lola Bester. The Besters are having an interesting paint problem with the walls and ceiling of their master bedroom: the ceiling is covered in fungi, while the walls have a damp problem.
We're in Gouda, at the home of Johan and Cecile Uys. Johan has a problem with the exterior wall paint of their house, where there are a number of moisture- and plaster-related issues.
We're in Somerset West, in Cape Town, at the home of Marlese Lenhoff. Marlese is experiencing a paint problem with the interior walls of her house, as paint is peeling off the previously painted crete-stone walls.
We're in Mitchells Plain in the mother city Cape Town, at the home of Rashida Amadien. Rashida has an ongoing paint problem in the bathroom. The poor ventilation in the bathroom is causing a fungi problem on the walls and ceiling.
We're in Centurion, at the home of Arlet Swarts. Arlet's boundary walls have a bit of a problem. The lack of waterproofing, along with plaster cracks and the use of a low quality primer has all contributed to the current state of the walls.
We're in Rustenburg, at the home of Willie Jacobsz. Willie has a problem with the exterior paintwork of his house. The house has no gutters, which is causing rain water to splash back against the bottom of the walls. This together with some hairline cracks, rising damp and window sills which haven't been waterproofed is causing the paint to peel and flake.
It's a beautiful day and we are in Sunnyside, Pretoria at the home of Charmaine Manicom. Charmaine's got a bit of a paint problem with the wooden floor of her cottage bedroom, let's go find out how we can make it better.
