Description

Appearance: Clear in Gloss or Suede finish.
Spreading Rate: 8 - 12 m²/litre. The practical spreading rate depending on the porosity and profile of the wood as well as the application technique and tools used.
Solids: 52% by mass; 45% by volume.
Density: 0,95 kg/litre.
Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 20 to 30 µm microns per coat.
Viscosity at 23°C : 75 Kµ.
Flash Point: 35°C.

Storage:

  • Keep containers properly sealed.
  • Store away from direct heat, sun and severe cold in a place with adequate ventilation.

Intended Usages

  • For use on new interior hard or soft woods and stained timber.
  • Provides a protective transparent coating to doors, window frames and skirtings.

Application Details

  • Mixing: Stir before use with a flat paddle to an even consistency. Stir occasionally during use.
  • Method: Brush only, roller not recommended. Can be sprayed after thinning.
  • Thinning: Not recommended for brush application, but use ProGold Mineral Turpentine when spraying.
  • Cleaning: Remove as much of the product as possible from the application equipment before cleaning with ProGold Mineral Turpentine.

Conditions:

  • Temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
  • Relative humidity of less than 85%, preferably between 10: 00 and 16: 00.

Drying time: 
3-4 hours. 
Note:
  Higher temperatures will accelerate the drying times (approximately halved for every 10°C increase), whilst lower temperatures will retard the drying time (approximately doubled for every 10°C decrease).

Recoating time:
 18 hours (overnight).

Requirements:
 Two coats.

Surface Preparations

  • Sand wood to a smooth finish with 150 grit sandpaper.
  • Remove all dust by wiping with a cloth moistened with ProGold Mineral Turpentine.
  • Apply first coat thinned down with 10% ProGold Mineral Turpentine.
  • Flatten the lifted wood fibre with fine sandpaper or fine steelwool.
  • Remove dust and apply 2nd and 3rd coat undiluted.
  • Abrade surface lightly with fine sandpaper.
  • Remove all dust.

Limitations

  • Thin even coats should be brushed on.
  • Do not use on floors.
  • Not recommended for outside use - low UV resistance.
  • Use only in well ventilated areas.
  • Surfaces must be dry.

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
  • In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
  • If product is ingested drink plenty of water or milk. Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.
  • Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed information about the product and transportation and classification criteria. MSDS is available on www.prominentpaints.co.za or from Prominent Customer Service Department.
  • To avoid any risk of spillage, always transport in a secure upright position.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
  • Wear a suitable dust mask if sanding.
  • In case of accidental skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
  • If product is ingested drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.
  • Do not smoke while painting.
  • To avoid any risk of spillage, always transport in a secure upright position.
