Description

Appearance: Smooth texture.
Spreading Rate: 2-5 m²/litre, dependent on surface texture, porosity and the final ripple finish required.
Solids: 63% by mass and 50% by volume.
Density: 1,42 kg/litre.
Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 2 coats at 80 µm per coat minimum.
Viscosity: Paste
Flash Point: Non-flammable

Storage:

  • Keep containers properly sealed.
  • Store away from direct heat, sun and severe cold in a place with adequate ventilation.

Intended Usages

  • Interior/exterior coating to cover hairline cracks and obliterate where a smooth texture is required.
  • Can be used as a stippled or combed finish on ceilings and walls.

Application Details

  • Mixing: Stir before use with a flat paddle to an even consistency. Stir occasionally during use.
  • Method: Textured sponge roller.
  • Thinning: Not recommended.
  • Cleaning: Remove as much of the product as possible from the application equipment before cleaning with tap water.

Conditions:

  • Temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
  • Relative humidity of less than 85%, preferably between 10: 00 and 16: 00.
  • Ideally apply when the temperature of the substrate is at least 2°C above dew point.
  • If possible away from direct sunlight.

Drying time: 
6-18 hours. 
Note:  Higher temperatures will accelerate the drying times (approximately halved for every 10°C increase), whilst lower temperatures will retard the drying time (approximately doubled for every 10°C decrease).

Recoating time: 8 hours at 23°C.

Requirements: Two coats.

Surface Preparations
Cement Plaster:

  • One coat Prominent Dampcure or Prominent Plaster Primer or Prominent Trade Plaster Primer.

Unglazed bricks:

  • Clean and apply directly.

Building blocks:

  • Clean and apply directly.

Emulsion paint:

  • Ensure the paint is sound, clean and apply directly.

Gloss enamel:

  • Abrade well to a matt finish, clean and apply directly.

Chalky surfaces:

  • Wire brush/high pressure water jet, allow to dry and apply one coat Prominent Dampcure or Prominent Surface Restorer.

Poor condition surfaces:

  • Strip down and treat as new work.

Limitations

  • Application requires practice and experience.
  • Texture dependent on thickness of paint applied and roller texture.
  • Cannot be overcoated with non-flexible paints.
  • No colour range available, must be overcoated with a flexible coating to required colour.
  • Must be overcoated when used on exterior applications.
  • Dirt retention high due to rough texture.

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
  • In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
  • If product is ingested drink plenty of water or milk. Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.
